the The year that just ended, 2021, was certainly not the best year for many people. One of them was Queen Ogunjobi, a student and online seller. One of his main goals for the year was to end his life. She planned to kill herself because, according to her, she had a lot to do.

The young woman who lost her mum in early January 2021 was forced to live with her uncle, whom she says she struggled to cope with. As if that weren’t enough, she was also the victim of a very toxic relationship.

Having to deal with the painful death of her mother, the habit of cheating and the rage of her boyfriend as well as the abuse of her uncle, she said: “It was not easy to do face without my mother because my uncle sends me on useless errands, he tries to control my every move, I can’t even go out with friends and go a little past curfew, I’ll be beaten until the end I can’t run away because I have nowhere to go and I don’t want to suffer, so the only time I breathe well is when I’m at school. tired; I’m seriously depressed and thinking about killing myself. My boyfriend is giving me another headache, he’s a big cheater, he insults me, he doesn’t respect me at all, he beats me in front of his friends, sometimes take my clothes off in public just to embarrass myself I hate my life and feel really used and stupid.

The lady above was able to go through the year in pain and severe emotional torture which ultimately affected her health, physically, mentally and emotionally.

Olowolaju Boluwatife, industrial psychologist and creative director of The Jporshe Designs and Prints, explained how mental health plays a major role in our daily lives. He said: “The concept of mental health cannot be overstated as it plays a major role in our daily activity. If I am not in good psychological health, I cannot speak to you or give you my thoughts on this subject. So, I would like to say that our mental health is what makes us acceptable in the society where we initially find ourselves.

“Mental health includes our emotional, psychological and social well-being. It affects how we think, feel and act. It also helps determine how we handle stress, interact with others, and make choices. Mental health is important at every stage of life, from childhood and adolescence to adulthood.

“In other words, mental health is a state of well-being in which an individual realizes his or her own abilities, can cope with the normal stresses of life, can work productively, and is able to make a contribution to his community. .

“Mental health is more than the mere absence of mental disorders or disabilities. Optimal mental health is not only about avoiding active conditions, but also about pursuing ongoing well-being and happiness. They also point out that preserving and restoring mental health is crucial on an individual basis, as well as in different communities and societies around the world.

Over the course of your life, if you experience mental health issues, your thinking, mood, and behavior could be affected. Many factors contribute to mental health problems, including biological factors, such as genes or brain chemistry; life experiences, such as trauma or abuse and a family history of mental health issues.

It is important to protect your daily mental health and well-being so that you can manage daily stress and effectively help others when they need you. Protecting your mental health will also help you take care of your physical health, recognize your emotional and spiritual needs, foster and maintain strong relationships, and achieve balance in different areas of your life.

In his words, there are many ways to protect your mental health. He listed a few of those ways.

ONE: Express your feelings

Tell someone how you are feeling and let them know about any issues you are having. Keeping your emotions bottled up can only make you feel worse.

TWO: Set boundaries

It’s okay to say “no” to activities you no longer enjoy or want to do. This can include not checking emails late at night, skipping social events, or not answering the phone at certain times of the day.

THREE: Take care of your physical health

Managing the symptoms of mental illness requires physical self-care. Eating a healthy diet, getting enough sleep, and exercising regularly can all help keep your physical health in check.

FOUR : Find a coping mechanism for you

Everyone is pressed for time. Find a healthy hobby that you enjoy. Performing art or music, journaling, or connecting with loved ones can all help you cope with everyday stress.

FIVE: Ask for help if you need it

Help should be sought. Mental health professionals and services are available to help you deal with your problems.

SIX: Talk about your worries

It can be good to talk about how you feel and what you are doing to deal with it.

SEVEN: Think about your new daily routine

Think about how you can change and develop new positive habits – try doing useful or important things (like cleaning, cooking, exercising, reading, or calling a friend). Making a daily or weekly schedule can benefit you.

EIGHT: Set Goals

Setting and achieving goals gives you a sense of control and purpose. Think about what you want or need to do, but can still do from home.

NINE: Keep your mind active

Keep your mind active by reading, writing, playing games, doing crosswords, sudoku puzzles, jigsaw puzzles or drawing and painting. Develop a strategy that works for you.

TEN Do things you love

If your stay at home keeps you from doing the things you normally enjoy, think about how you might adapt or try something new.

Additionally, in an interview, Ms. Ibironke Ojo-Omotoso, a registered mental health nurse, described mental health as the general way people get along harmoniously with their families, at school, at work, in recreation and in their community. “It does not mean the presence of mental illness, but rather the presence of something positive – the happiness, peace of mind, pleasure and satisfaction we derive from life.

“Mental hygiene is the way in which an individual prepares his mind to achieve good mental health. For example, not living above your limit, i.e. spending what you have and not above your income, creating a good environment to avoid insecurity, avoiding what will alter the personality of an individual, for example smoking cannabis, taking drugs such as cocaine, heroin, etc. .”

She also talked about what to look for in a mentally healthy person. According to het, these things include, but are not limited to the following:

•Can face disappointments and setbacks in life.

• Tolerant and easy-going attitude towards himself as well as towards others.

• Never underestimate or overestimate their abilities and those of others.

•Has self-respect.

• Accepts own shortcomings.

• Obtains satisfaction from all he has.

• Gives love and considers the interests of others.

• Likes and trusts others and assumes that others will like and trust him.

• Don’t push people around or get pushed around

about.

• Do something about their problem as it arises.

•Accepts responsibility.

•Plan ahead and don’t fear the future.

• Welcomes new experiences and ideas.

• Adapt to one’s environment whenever necessary.

• Puts his best effort into what he does and gets rewards from doing it.

“The above may seem difficult to fulfill in our current society, but these are the basics for having a healthy mind, especially in this new year,” she said.

Northampton’s first-ever ‘community fridge’ has been opened in a growing effort to curb the taste of food.

The Community Fridge opened on January 11 at the Abbey Center in East Hunsbury and will now be open three days a week to allow residents and businesses to donate or take surplus food that would otherwise go to waste.

Project coordinator Loz Ferrin said, “This is a really worthwhile project to have in the local community and help tackle food waste, while supporting others.”

The community fridge at the Abbey Center in East Hunsbury.

Abbey Center Community Fridge was opened with the support of UK environmental charity, ‘Hubbub’, and the project is now calling on all local food businesses and estate holders in the area to donate any surplus food.

According to ‘Love Food Hate Waste’, the average British family with children throws away around £720 of food a year, or £60 a month. There are simultaneously over four million people in the UK living in food poverty.

Loz added: “Most food waste in the UK is avoidable and could have been eaten if it had been better managed.”

The refrigerator is one of a growing number of openings across the country. The concept came to the UK in 2016 with the opening of community fridges in Swadlincote, Frome and London.

Today, more than 50 projects are underway across the country.

Some of the challenges faced by community refrigerators to date relate to legal requirements and food hygiene. The world’s first network of community fridges was set up by environmental charity, Hubbub, to provide free advice and support to local organizers and act as a hub for communities to share experiences and learn about each other.

The East Hunsbury Community Fridge will be open 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Tuesday, 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesday and 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Friday.

“I have to give the students all the credit for handling the change in scenario and smoothly transitioning to the virtual platform. Running Shaastra virtually wouldn’t have the same impact as if the event took place on campus. But, the team is trying to get good traction by imagining different ways to reach virtually to provide IIT Madras students as well as other institutions with good exposure to what is going on in the field of technology, ”said Prof. Bhaskar Ramamurthi. , director, IIT Madras.

Shaastra Summit includes a virtual conference each year on a new topic. This year the main subject is gaming and gaming technology. The aim of the conference is to facilitate the networking of enthusiasts, students and professionals of the gaming industry to learn from each other, explains IIT Madras. The event will include lectures and panel discussions with speakers from more than five countries.

This edition of Shaastra includes the Shaastra Grand Challenge, a competition focused on the concept of circular economy combined with sustainable development techniques, to rethink and discover ways to solve real-life problems. A curious program of workshops highlighting current topics such as Arduino, Internet of Things, data visualization, robotics, artificial intelligence, etc.

Aerobic conditioning, muscle strength, muscle endurance, flexibility and body composition should be considered in exercise programs, but not always to the same degree.

Content of the article

At a time of year when many Canadians are reviewing their exercise commitments, it’s understandable that you’re not sure how best to get in shape. With title after title recommending everything from high-intensity interval training to walking, fitness is no longer so easy to define.

Advertising

Content of the article

Ask your family doctor, and they’ll likely prescribe you to get enough exercise to improve health, manage stress, and increase energy stores. Ask a trainer and they’ll tell you about the benefits of strength training and send you to the weight room. Then there’s the long list of personal goals including everything from losing weight to running a marathon to achieving a curling stone with ease. With such a diversity of goals, not to mention the diversity of Canadians, is there really an exercise routine that ticks all the boxes? Or is fitness more nuanced than just sweating a few days a week?

Traditional definitions of fitness list five distinct elements: aerobic conditioning, muscle strength, muscle endurance, flexibility and body composition, each of which should be considered when designing an exercise program. ‘exercises. But in recent years, experts have questioned whether flexibility and body composition (the percentage of lean mass in relation to body fat) are still relevant measures of fitness for the general population. After all, how important is it to be able to touch your toes when it comes to overall fitness? And do you really need to be slim to be in shape?

Advertising

Content of the article

Additionally, most people don’t have the time or the inclination to develop the five components of fitness to their fullest potential. Instead, they tend to focus primarily on those who match their goals or interests. Runners run, walkers walk, swimmers swim, cyclists cycle, group exercise addicts take fitness classes, and the weight room has lifts.

Make no mistake, there are benefits to improving all of the traditional elements of fitness. A fit body is strong and flexible with enough endurance to face the physical challenges of everyday life, whether it’s taking out the trash, chasing the kids, or throwing a curling stone across the board. the rink. But the reality is, most Canadians don’t stick to even the most basic fitness recommendations, which the World Health Organization says means getting 150 minutes of moderate-intensity activity per week. In fact, conversations with fitness and health professionals have shifted from developing the five components of fitness to simply reducing sedentary behaviors.

Content of the article

ParticipACTION, the Canadian agency dedicated to promoting physical activity, has tried to clarify what it means to be in good shape by updating its exercise prescription. It recommends that “adults between the ages of 18 and 64 participate in a range of physical activities (eg land / water) and settings (eg recreation, transportation, occupation, household) through all seasons. The organization also suggests that “adults limit long periods of sedentary behavior and practice healthy sleep hygiene (routines, behaviors and environments conducive to sleeping well)”.

Advertising

Content of the article

Even with this more holistic approach to fitness, ParticipACTION has not abandoned the concept of the different components of fitness. He recommends that Canadians get 150 minutes of moderate to vigorous aerobic activity per week, weight training twice a week, and accumulate several hours of light physical activity, including standing, per week. To assess the fitness of Canadians, the group also uses parameters such as the time we spend in light physical activity, moderate to vigorous physical activity, muscle building activities, balance activities, active transportation, participation in sports and our daily step count.

You can’t go wrong following the ParticipACTION guidelines, which are designed to improve the overall physical and mental health of Canadians, including lower risk of death, cardiovascular disease, type 2 diabetes, weight gain and several cancers; improved bone health, cognition and quality of life; and a reduction in anxiety, depression and dementia. But for those with specific fitness goals – like running a marathon, improving speed and agility on the tennis court, or increasing strength by 10 percent – it’s likely your workouts will need a bit. more direction and specificity, which means reflecting on the original components of fitness.

Content of the article

The most effective exercise programs are strategic by including the basic pillars of fitness – prioritizing those that best suit individual goals, without completely forgetting the rest. Ultimately, the best test of your overall fitness is not just being able to achieve your personal goals, but being able to take on any physical challenge thrown at you. This includes the only Canadian fitness test that really matters: having the muscle strength and endurance to lift shovelfuls of heavy, wet snow, cardiovascular conditioning to clear the entire aisle without a break, and the flexibility to put on. and take off your winter boots. with ease.

For many families, the ability to work from home involves more than one person.

Content of the article

It can be both parents and sometimes one or more children who stay on site throughout the day.

The Boston, by Shane Homes, is designed to comfortably meet the changing needs of being productive at home. This 2,428 square foot front-wheel drive single-family model is featured as a show home in the planned community of Ambleton.

Downstairs is an eight foot eight by 11 foot lifestyle room. In the show house, this space demonstrates its capacity to accommodate several people with two small desks at opposite ends of the room.

The elegant barn doors help provide the occupants of this space with a layer of privacy.

This house has four bedrooms. In families of four, the extra bedroom can be used as a second office.

While some homes with four bedrooms on the second level have to compromise on the dimensions of one or more of its bedrooms, depending on the tighter fit, all of the sleeping spaces in this home are a good size.

As a result, this house meets the needs of large families in the long term. Unlike secondary bedrooms of modest proportions, this house is suitable for all stages of a child’s life.

The larger secondary bedroom has a walk-in closet. It grows to 11 feet 11 inches by 9 feet 11 inches, with a portion of 10 feet 11 inches. In the show house, this bedroom is staged with a small desk, demonstrating another potential workstation.

The master bedroom is rear-facing and has a walk-in closet and an en-suite bathroom. This bathroom dazzles with a glass-enclosed shower with full-height tiles and a sleek black frame, a deep soaking tub under a large window, and a vanity with two sinks under a full-width, full-height mirror.

A utility room off the master bedroom creates a quick and easy path to stash a load of clean laundry.

The full bathroom on the second floor is designed to accommodate multiple children. Her vanity has two sinks and plenty of space for hair and hygiene products.

The central bonus room has space for a sofa and a TV, creating a great place for the family to gather and stream their favorite TV series before going to bed.

While many people appreciate a fireplace that offers privacy, it’s also important to create a welcoming entrance. This house achieves this balance. Its foyer restricts views to the more personal ends of the ground floor, but has an opening feature above that creates a feeling of volume and an additional supply of natural light.

The back section of the main level is open plan and each room is even more spacious than its floor plan measurements suggest. One of the reasons for this is that the staircase leading to the second level is placed near the front of the ground floor so that it does not encroach on the main spaces, such as the kitchen and the great room. .

Content of the article

The L-shaped kitchen is upscale and designed to perform. Its stainless steel appliances are thoughtfully paced, allowing one person to be in the oven and another in the refrigerator without bumping their elbows.

The island has a sink and wet bar that can accommodate at least three people. A walk-through pantry, which connects the cloakroom, provides a convenient connection for people carrying bags of groceries after a trip to the store.

THE DETAILS

RESIDENCE: The Boston is a 2,428 square foot single family home with four bedrooms on the second floor.

SINGAPORE – Media reach – January 6, 2022 – Pazzi Robotics, a French kitchen and robotics software startup, recently announced the launch of fully automated packaged solutions for the food and beverage (F&B) industry. Solutions range from food preparation to final assembly, based on fully automated procedures performed by robots.

Pazzi Robotics launched its second automated pizzeria in Paris in the summer of 2021. The fully autonomous restaurant uses Pazzi, a pizza processor, throughout cooking. No human intervention in the kitchen.

Customers can send their order requests via a mobile application or via the restaurant’s various touch screens, and can pick up their freshly prepared pizza from a marked locker a few minutes later. This unique technology-based restaurant concept with a robot chef has attracted customers from all over the world, amazed to see their dishes being prepared by robots in real time. The robots produce up to 80 gourmet pizzas per hour, allowing restaurateurs to focus more on customer experience and service.

The global food robotics market is expected to reach $ 3.1 billion by 2025. The pandemic has made the implementation of stand-alone solutions in the F&B industry even more important, as it enables efficient management of human resources and minimize the risk of contamination. As Singapore moves towards Industry 4.0, the government has proposed several initiatives to increase the adoption of AI in businesses, with many applications in robotics. Pazzi is a good example of how advanced robotics can help improve efficiency and safety in the restaurant business.

Pazzi Robotics has spent 7 years developing a disruptive and proprietary solution that combines software, data and precision robotics to fully automate the end-to-end cooking process, from ingredient selection to quality finished dishes. It aims to help the F&B industry address challenges such as staff shortages, resource management and productivity, health and safety, value and quality for consumers. The pizzas of the Pazzi restaurants in Paris are very popular with consumers.

Pazzi Robotics is backed by Qualgro, a Singapore-based venture capital firm, and Partech, Daphni two major European VCs.

This year, the construction sector will remain dynamic. Bodes well for citizens’ associations and organized and vigilant neighborhood communities. Citizens must know their rights and enforce their covenants while developing and improving the value of properties and their neighborhoods. The development sector will become orderly through the activism of strong and alert citizens operating by mutual agreement.

Government authorities will encourage and facilitate local residents willing to undertake developments in their neighborhoods, including those in concert with outside developers, without undue hindrances or delays.

Jamaica’s capital, with its historic cityscape of downtown Kingston, will be regenerated in 2022. Its heritage footprint will be revitalized in accordance with partisan-free urban development guidelines that will include diverse residential communities. This is essential to any successful urban restoration exercise. Residential integration in all areas must be allowed within what I call the heritage capital of downtown Kingston.

Implement in 2022 the public-private partnership strategy already formulated and approved since 2017 thanks to the combined efforts of downtown stakeholders and residents. This strategy makes it possible to preserve the historic footprint of the heritage capital, with a large part of its historic urban fabric instead of the currently underway demolitions planned inside the heritage capital to make way for large speculative projects. heights that are currently failing globally and are also scientifically unsustainable, with high carbon footprints increasing global warming and intensifying climate change. Do citizens want to continue watching Jamaican shores recede, as evidenced by the rapid disappearance of Healthshire Beach in Kingston Harbor? Note that the proper name on maps and historical documents is “Healthshire”. So where does “Hellshire” come from?

KEY TO ECONOMIC SUSTAINABILITY

The Kingston waterfront and the vital market district of downtown Kingston are the keys to the economic viability of the Heritage Capital, which is typical of all downtowns around the world. Therefore, in 2022 renovate the unoccupied waterfront office building opposite the Jamaica Stock Exchange to become a vibrant mixed development for residential and boutique hotels with commercial activities.

Above all, the minister will appoint a dedicated and qualified government planner in 2022, which has become extremely late. Unfortunately, filling this gap has been remarkable and extremely critical. He / she will be allowed to function professionally for the goodwill of all citizens, in the general interest of the nation, and allowed to perform the work without undue interface. Get this office up and running quickly for the efficient growth and development of the construction industry.

Most important for 2022, the 2017 Interim Development Order of the National Environment and Planning Agency (NEPA) will be confirmed. NEPA and the Kingston and St Andrew Municipal Corporation as well as other municipalities in Jamaica must operate in accordance with the law. They should ensure that they are operating within their designated and mandated functions.

This year Jamaica is celebrating its 60th anniversary of independence, but the main legislation for governance of the Jamaican construction industry is Land Use Planning Act 42 of 1957 and this predates independence. “Therefore, in the context of the 60th anniversary, should we initiate a process of revising the T&CP law? Critically, there are two key instruments attached to this 1957 law: first, the 1966 Confirmed Development Ordinance (DO); second, the 2017 Provisional Planning Ordinance (PDO).

Understand that the birth of Jamaican urban planning is due to Otto Koenigsberger (1909-1999), one of the founders of modern urban development planning for rapidly growing cities in Africa, Asia and Latin America. In 1953, Koenigsberger, after a short period as a research fellow at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine in London, became Senior Advisor to the United Nations Economic and Social Council and took charge of the Department for Development and Tropical Studies of the Association of Architects School of Architecture (AA). This AA department published the Tropical Housing and Construction Handbook: Climate Design.

During this period, the United Kingdom assigned planning professionals to its colonies in the tropics to establish urban development and governance authorities. Koenigsberger, considered the father of town planning, developed a concept of “action planning” which immediately gained intellectual and professional acclaim and which remains widely accepted internationally. He tested and refined this in Singapore in the 1950s – in this atmosphere of change and action planning, Jamaica’s T&CP law was enacted.

The government’s first urban planner was David Wilson Spreull (1911-1995), trained at the Liverpool School of Architecture and part of the urban planning movement in developing countries. He was assigned to Jamaica by the British government in the 1940s and worked until 1965. Charles [Bill] Hodges, an AA graduate who also studied town planning, succeeds Spreull. In 1962, the year of Jamaica’s independence, Neil Richards and Kingsley Robotham were the first Jamaicans to enter the AA to study architecture under the Department of Tropical Architecture. Both returned to the island and spent a few professional years working in the government town planner’s office.

DIRECTOR CONCEPT

Arguing from his 1950s concept of “action planning”, Koenigsberger proposed that the planning process begin by defining a broad “guiding concept” for the future development of a city. This for Jamaica became the 1966 DO, also the 2017 AOP. A “watchdog” process put in place by the local authority to continuously monitor progress and change continued. This was necessary to create a living organization, preferably anchored in the structure of local government, constantly supposed to deal with planning issues and keep the basic design of the plan alive.

This is where the spirit and precedence of Section 11 of the Jamaican T&CP Act 1957 resides, according to which the KSAMC and other municipal corporations, as the “local authority” to which the claims of ‘permission to develop land are subject, may grant permission “unconditionally or subject to such conditions as they see fit or may refuse permission.” In addition, the local planning authority “will take into account the provisions of the planning order” “, namely the DO 1966, also the PDO 2017.

Koenigsberger pointed out that town planning [Town and Country] the authority would then play a dynamic role in promoting and steering private sector investments and in supporting community initiatives to ensure that in partnership, the “guiding concept” of development is maintained for the benefit of all those who have a stake. stake in the future of the city.

All of this echoes participatory planning, full inclusion and citizen participation. The concept of “Action Planning” continues globally. Yet after more than 60 years in Jamaica, he deteriorated into duplicity. the oxford dictionary defines duplicity as “dishonest behavior aimed at making someone believe something that is not true”. It is vital to end the duplicity of development as a nation on the verge of celebrating its diamond anniversary. In 2022, we will have to anticipate.

FC Union Berlin sporting director Oliver Ruhnert has expressed his displeasure at the procedural issues surrounding Taiwo Awoniyi’s summons to the Africa Cup of Nations, but nonetheless said he was confident that the current squad had enough offensive options to complete.

Union Berlin sporting director Oliver Ruhnert called the call-up for his team’s top scorer for the national team a “positive development” and noted that the club had been commercially prepared for the eventuality.

“When you sign a player like Taiwo Awoniyi, you have to respect the fact that there is an Africa Cup of Nations in January,” Runhert said on Wednesday. “Part of the success of his performance is that the Nigerian national team took note of him and named him. This is above all a positive development.”

“He will be missed nonetheless,” continued the executive, speaking of his nine-goal scorer, “it annoys us. A lot of clubs are angry that we have not received a good concept of hygiene and do not understand not how the process works. “

Ruhnert shot the Nigerian FA, who let go of interim head coach Gernot Rohr shortly before the teams finalized. As a result, Ruhnert claims, his club were not informed of Awoniyi’s call-up in a timely manner.

In a statement clearly addressed to the German government itself, Ruhnert expressed concern that the host country Cameroon could be classified as a “variant zone” by the federal regime of the Bundesrepublik.

Last winter, to much controversy one might add, the German government attempted to ban inbound travelers from so-called “Delta variant countries”. With the UK ranked among those countries, German clubs hosting EPL teams for Champions League matches have had to move their matches to Puskas Arena in Budapest.

Many see the “Delta Variant” travel restrictions as an overreaction on the part of the government. The restrictions were finally removed in March 2021.

“If Cameroon is classified as a variant area, then all players will need to be quarantined for 14 days upon their return,” noted Ruhnert, adding: “We need the highest possible security to ensure the safety of our players and avoid an epidemic. “

After removing some of those remarks, Ruhnert noted that he still believes in a team that has “enough attacking players”.

Union were able to continue scoring goals last season despite injuries ravaging their punching body. Awoniyi, Max Kruse, Joel Pohjanpalo, Cedric Teuchert, Sheraldo Becker and Marcus Ingvartsen have all been able to accumulate multiple goals in Urs Fischer’s interchangeable 3-5-2 double stack, which the FCU coach is still using this season.

This year, Kruse, Andreas Voglsammer, Kevin Behrens, Becker, Teuchert and Genki Haraguchi have all managed to be productive in terms of goals and assists from or near Awoniyi’s position.
